Cristiano Ronaldo named in Real Madrid squad to face Manchester United in Super Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo could face former employers Manchester United on Tuesday as the Portuguese star has been named in Real Madrid’s Super Cup squad.

There were initial doubts over his inclusion as the 32-year-old missed his side’s summer tour of America after he was given an extended break following the Confederations Cup.

Ronaldo took to Instagram to say he was ‘looking good’ as he walked through Madrid Airport with his team-mates.

After returning to training at the weekend, Zinedine Zidane has deemed his star forward fit enough to be included in his 24-man squad and Ronaldo looked dapper as he walked through Madrid Airport.

The Portuguese is likely to form a three-pronged attack with Bale, who continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford, and Karim Benzema.

The two heavyweights will battle it out to win the Super Cup in Macedonia on Tuesday night after Real Madrid became the first club to retain the Champions League and Manchester United won the Europa League.

Real Madrid and Manchester United played out a 1-1 draw in California back in July with Jose Mourinho’s men winning the International Champions Cup clash on penalties.

United will be without defensive duo Phil Jones and Eric Bailly due to suspension while Ashley Young, Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw remain sidelined through injury.
