Juventus shattered Barcelona’s dreams of winning a sixth Champions Leaguetrophy following a 3-0 aggregate win over them in the quarter-finals.
One man who took the defeat very hard was Neymar, who could be seen crying on the pitch as Bjorn Kuipers blew his whistle for the last time.
The Barcelona man held his shirt up over his face to hide his eyes and looked to be inconsolable as he slowly made his way off the Nou Camp pitch.
But he was consoled by none other than his former teammate, and fellow Brazilian, Dani Alves, who gave him a hug to cheer him up.
Football fans from around the world heaped praise on Alves, who was part of a brilliant back-four that completely nullified Barcelona on the night.
Talking to the cameras after the game, the former Catalan favourite admitted that Juventus winning at the Nou Camp was bitter sweet.
He went on to talk about his conversation with Neymar, revealing what he spoke to the 25-year-old about in order to cheer him up a bit.
“I’ve told [Neymar] that this is life, unfortunately we had to face each other, he told beIN Sports after the game.
“I did not want to measure myself just on this, we have lived these moments together and now we live them apart so it is hard.
“We have to focus on our jobs, but the feeling is there.”
Alves and Juventus will learn their Champions League fate today Friday, where they will be drawn against either Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid or Monaco in the semi-finals.
