Frank Ocean Was Super Psyched About Viola Davis’ Oscar Win

Frank Ocean couldn’t be bothered to attend this year’s Grammy Awards. But the Blonde singer definitely seemed like he had an eye on Sunday night’s (Feb. 26) Oscars, as he weighed in on Tumblr on his favorite moment of the night. No, it wasn’t the colossal envelope screw-upfor Best Picture, it was Fences star Viola Davis’ inspiring speech after winning Best Supporting Actress.

Ocean had a very simple message for Davis after she became the first black actress to win the triple crown: Oscar, Emmy and Tony Awards for acting: “Yesss Viola.”

“People ask me all the time, what kind of stories do you want to tell, Viola?” she said as she accepted the Oscar for her role in the Denzel Washington-directed film based on an 1983 Pulitzer Prize-winning August Wilson play. “And I say, exhume those bodies, exhume those stories. The stories of the people who dreamed big, and never saw those dreams to fruition, people who fell in love and lost. I became an artist, and thank God I did, because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life.”

Ocean wasn’t the only one shouting out winners. Adele shouted out her Oscar-winning pal Emma Stone after the La La Land star snagged the Best Actress award on Sunday night.
